USVI/-BVI Series: St John and SPICE
Lately, I’ve been on a food kick. It’s possible that this has stemmed from the need to practice cooking as I’m no longer on yachts as a captain with chefs to spoil me! As well, the French don’t do spicy…so, as I live in France, to enjoy my favorite dishes I must figure out how to cook them myself. But first I need to find ingredients- fortunately, I have help…
St John Spice is located in Cruz Bay on the beautiful island of St John. With a population of around 4200 residents, St John is the smallest of the US Virgin Islands. Cruz Bay is a lively little town boasting fabulous restaurants, bars, and shops. More than half the island is covered by the Virgin Island National Park- and let’s not forget the gorgeous white sand beaches! St John is a fabulous destination!
St John Spice mixes up incredible spice blends- Island Creole Seasoning, Jerk Spice, Black Voodou Grilling Spice, and Java Booty Rub -just to name a few of my favorites! As well, there’s a store full of items- such as hot sauces- among other things. On my last trip St John, I stocked up on large bags of spices and bottles of hot sauces to haul back to France. Then, I had a delivery made to my little place in the mountains to tide me over until I visit this November. It’s first on my list for every return trip!
With the beauty of the island- stunning beaches -and a fabulous little town to visit- St John makes for a great stop on a charter! While they’re still working on a full recovery from Hurricanes Irma and Maria, they’ve been happily welcoming visitors all season. I'm very excited to get back there in a few months- and I'm definitely ready for another visit to St John Spice!
